Biohacking is about understanding your own biology so you can live your healthiest life.

These hacks, or shortcuts, include fasting, ice baths, meditation, light exposure, and more to influence your hormones and optimize your brain. Powerphysical performance and body weight.

TV star Davinia Taylor, 46, has used it to improve her health and says she has lost more than three pounds as a result.

She has now shared her research in a best-selling book, amassed a million followers on Instagram, and founded her own biohacking company called WillPowders.

Ms Davinia told The Sun on Sunday Health:

“It’s just getting back to basics. I’ve spent years researching it, putting my body through all kinds of weird tests, trying different things and figuring out what’s right for me. .

“It helped me mentally and physically. The weight loss was an added benefit.

“But there’s no need to overdo it. Small lifestyle hacks can really help.”

Here are Davinia’s top 5 tips for beginners.

You need to know the chemicals, additives, and E-numbers you are eating.

The things I dislike the most are sugar and oils such as vegetable oil and rapeseed.

Sneaky food companies use 200 different names for sugar, including glucose, fructose, maltodextrin, and lactose.

And vegetable oil is a horrible thing to use for household cleaning too.

I know you can’t squeeze a carrot to get the oil out.

Basically, we revert our diet back to what our great-grandmothers ate. Stick to natural, unprocessed foods and ditch oils for more nutritious alternatives like butter.

Let’s go outside

Go outside first thing in the morning and let the sun’s rays hit your face.

If it’s sunny, it should only take 3 minutes, but if it’s cloudy, aim for 20 minutes.

Sunlight enters the retina of your eye, hits your skin, and tells your body clock that it’s time to start the day by releasing cortisol.

And this also means that after 12 hours, your body will naturally start releasing the sleep hormone melatonin.

intermittent fasting

It has so many benefits, from weight loss and hormonal balance to regulating blood sugar levels, providing energy and improving memory.

Start with a 12-hour eating window. Slowly reduce to a 6-8 hour time frame and fast for 16-18 hours.

During fasting, you typically don’t eat anything until about 2 p.m. First thing in the morning, drink a glass of water with a pinch of salt and lemon to stay hydrated.

Then, I add MCT oil to a large cup of black coffee and drink it.

This is a supplement made from a specific type of oil that gives you energy and makes you feel full, but it won’t break your fast.

nootropics

It may sound fancy, but nootropics are simply ingredients that support brain health.

If your brain is healthy, your body can also be healthy. These include caffeine, which aids memory, and L-theanine, a compound found in green tea that supports sleep and relaxation.

collagen

This is one of the most nutritious ways you can increase your food intake. It’s rich in amino acids that your body needs, and it heals your gut, reduces swelling, and improves your skin, hair, and nails.

You can put it in your food, and your child’s food, in powder form without affecting the taste.

“A new way of life for me”

Lindsay McGregor, a business owner and mother of two from Southport, Merseyside, started following Davinia’s advice.

Lindsay said: “I’ve tried many diets, but I always fail and have a hard time getting back on track.”

“But now I think differently because I have been thinking about my health and that of my family.

“For the past month, I’ve been able to put keto powder and MCT oil in my morning coffee and fast until 1pm, which somehow makes me feel much more awake and energized. Masu.

“My skin looks better and I’m sleeping better. I haven’t weighed myself, but I know I’ve lost weight because I can wear jeans again after years of not wearing them.

“Seeing the label was a big thing for me too.

“I no longer feed my daughters cereals or mass-produced breads full of additives, and I have cut out all sunflower and rapeseed oils.

“It feels good knowing I’m taking better care of my health than I have in years. Now I don’t feel so bad when I fall off the wagon and have a glass (or three!) of wine. yeah.

“This is a new way of life for me. It’s basic, but it worked.”
