Demand for fresh specialty produce at retailers is strong for a variety of reasons.
Let’s start with variety and selection: Consumers are increasingly looking for a variety of produce options, and stores that stock a wide range of specialty products attract more shoppers, says Alex Jackson, vice president of sales and procurement at Frida’s Specialty Produce.
Health and wellness is another big reason: With growing awareness of the importance of healthy eating, consumers are choosing fresh fruits and vegetables as dietary staples.
Mr Jackson said specialities such as dragon fruit and passion fruit not only offer unique flavours but also many nutritional benefits.
Fresh coconut ready to drink
This summer, Frida’s will be releasing a new product, “Hulas Ready-to-Drink Coconut,” which allows you to easily and refreshingly enjoy the tropical taste of coconut.
Jackson said Frass’ bright orange packaging and easy-to-enjoy format should be a hit with consumers.
Specialty foods evolve with the times, and Frida’s stays ahead of the curve with a focus on meeting consumer demand for the latest trendy foods and flavors, Jackson said.
Topping the list of these trends is anything spicy.
Jackson said that by adding a spicy element to tropical flavours like dragon fruit and passion fruit, the drink creates a unique and exciting flavour combination.
Convenience is another trend Frida’s is keeping an eye on.
Jackson said one of the ways the company is addressing this issue is through innovative packaging solutions, like its passion fruit three-pack option, which is not only convenient but also features a QR code that teaches consumers how to use the product and links to a recipe.
“By boldly displaying creative ways to cook and enjoy produce, Frida’s makes it easy for shoppers to try new and exciting products.”
