If you’re looking to stay active this summer in the heat, the Municipality of Nicosia is running a number of free fitness classes throughout July. After a successful first run of yoga and pilates classes, the Municipality has announced that evening classes will return this month in the green space next to the Eleftheria Square Amphitheatre.
To beat the summer heat, yoga classes have been shifted to later hours and will take place every Monday from 7-8pm. Participation is free – just register in advance via a Google form on the Nicosia Municipality website to find your place.
“Yoga is a practice that combines movement and breath and emphasizes the unity of mind and body. It improves strength, physical fitness, and mental and spiritual well-being. Please bring a mat, towel, and water bottle. Dress comfortably. We look forward to seeing you. Namaste,” says the instructor.
Pilates classes will take place every Thursday in July at 7pm in the same location for an hour. “Pilates is a combination of stretching and strengthening exercises,” organizers explain. “It tones muscles, improves posture and increases flexibility, while also aligning and balancing the body and mind.”
