Florida SuperCon, taking place this July, promises to have no shortage of geeky fun. As with any pop culture convention, you’ll find little snacks shaped like your favorite characters at every turn. But in Miami, you’ll get to experience foodie fandom like never before. The “From Screen to Kitchen: Creating Pop Culture/Media Inspired Recipes” panel series will feature Own A geeky appetizer.
The three-part series will be hosted by Convention Cooking host Jarrett Melendez, who has written numerous comic projects as well as several licensed cookbooks tailored to some of the most popular fandoms, including My Pokémon Baking Book, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Official Cookbook, and The Official Wednesday Cookbook.
The “Screen to Kitchen” series will be split into hourly panels across each day of the convention. Below you’ll find the panels, their schedule, and the delicious dishes Melendez will teach you how to make.
- Friday, July 12th at 2pm ET – From the Technicolor world of Pokémon comes Melendez’s Doduo Chocolate MacaroonsAccording to the FSC website, the macaron is “inspired by the head of the Doduo” and “has a small beak made from sliced almonds.”
- Saturday, July 13th at 6pm ET – Melendez is deserving of the Olympian title Blue Chocolate Chip CookiesIt’s based on the snacks Percy’s mom makes and feels like something straight out of the Percy Jackson series.
- Sunday, July 14 at 2pm ET – Explore the dark side of the desert Nightshade Society Peau ParfaitA dish made to suit the mood of Netflix’s spooky Wednesdays, it may not be poisonous, but it’s still a good idea to write a will just in case.
Each panel in the From Screen to Kitchen series will take place in Ballroom C: The Tavern Workshops, so if you see one, you see them all! And what’s really exciting is that at the end of each panel, everyone in attendance will receive a copy of the recipe from that panel in the form of a recipe card.
