She calls herself a “flower witch,” but that’s not just about dressing up in spooky clothes on Halloween.
“Halloween is a very Western concept. When I call myself a witch, I am doing so from a feminist perspective. Who were witches really? They were unconventional women who had their own ideas and were not afraid to speak their minds. They were in harmony with nature and outside the norm, so they were persecuted. In fairy tales and TV shows, witches have always been portrayed in a negative light, but I think they were great characters; in fact, much better than the damsels in distress,” says Jhelum Biswas Bose, founder of holistic healing beauty brand Jhelum Loves and certified Bach Flower Remedy therapist.
Her debut work, Pool Proofdescribes the therapeutic benefits of flowers and chakra healing, as well as Bach flower remedies for common beauty concerns and feelings.
“As I was writing, I realized that all my healing, whether it be aromatherapy or otherwise, is centered around flowers, and I’ve always loved flowers,” she says. You Are What You Feel: Jellm subscribes to the ancient wisdom that most of your ailments are a manifestation of how you feel.
Flower therapy has been popular in India since the time of Ravana. She says about this book: Alka Prakashawritten by the famous Ramayana villain, writes about flower tinctures, therapies and their benefits. “The healing properties of flowers became more evident when I suffered from a series of asthmatic illnesses and was taking antibiotics and antihistamines every month. A friend suggested I try Rescue Remedy and Crab Apple Remedy. The more I used them, the better I felt not only physically but also mentally,” she says.
This inspired her to become a certified Bach flower therapist and now she wants to spread the word about flower power. “My beauty brand Jhelum Loves, as well as traditional Ayurveda and other ‘alternative medicines’, aim to heal people, not to manifest problems. Whatever is going on inside your body is reflected in your skin and hair. Every illness has an emotional root, so if you heal that, the problem will naturally resolve,” she says.
While Jellm strongly recommends consulting a therapist before self-diagnosing, she did share a little bit about what could be causing your beauty concerns.
Acne
“Acne is an outburst of negative emotions within you and sometimes even hormonal imbalances. There is a cherry plum flower remedy that can be given when you are unable to control your emotions and are prone to angry outbursts.”
Bear
“Most of the time, dark circles under the eyes are caused by stress, anger, inability to express yourself, and lack of sleep due to overthinking. That’s why I recommend a dream catcher treatment with white chestnut, which helps to relieve constant anxiety, lavender oil, which is calming, and chamomile. All of these calm the mind and help you sleep better, which will also reduce dark circles under the eyes.”
Pigmentation or darkening
“To alleviate this issue, I would recommend a mix of Bach flower remedies after a consultation. I also recommend citrus essential oils and crab apple, which are excellent cleansers.”
Hair loss
“This problem can also be caused by hormonal imbalance, stress and weather changes, so the Walnut Bach flower remedy can help you get through unpleasant changes in your life. In this case, scleranthes and crabapple can also help ease hormonal imbalances. In the case of stress, I include white chestnut, which helps to quiet mental noise.”
Anti-Aging
“This is not an issue we feel comfortable talking about. But most of our anti-aging treatments include crabapple and honeysuckle because people who experience premature aging usually feel nostalgic for the past.” Well, we Pool Mandy For perfect skin as soon as possible.
Ask her what her favourite flower is, and Jhelum picks out a worthy candidate: “The fragrant Desi Gulab! Not only does it have a strong fragrance and a powerful energy field, but there is also a wonderful legend associated with the Gulab. There is a legend about when Emperor Jahangir and Mehrunnisa had a public argument at court. The queen ended up slapping the emperor…”
If you want to know how the story ends, you’ll have to read her book!
