Dennis Walton owns a farm in Scotland with her husband Chris and son Angus.
They purchased Peelham Farm in 1989. At the time, it was a smallholder conventional mixed farm, but over the years the family gradually transitioned to adopting regenerative principles, strengthening soil health and improving the farm’s biodiversity. and focused on refraining from chemical pesticides to soften the environment. Impact of climate change.
By 2005, it became fully organic, and 10 years later it was certified as a “Pasture For Life” farm, meaning its livestock are raised exclusively on grass and pasture.

“Introducing regenerative farming techniques always presents many challenges,” explains Dennis, who has a background in ecology. “However, the concept of ‘farming with nature’ has brought a great deal of hope and positivity to our lives.
“This is due to the often unexpected and counterintuitive responses of wildlife and farm productivity, such as improved grassland plant biodiversity through increased productivity.”
“Regenerative agriculture goes beyond just physically regenerating agriculture, enabling a regenerative mindset that makes the social and environmental impacts of agriculture highly positive for current and future generations. It also makes it possible.
Dennis spends time meditating on the farm every morning and evening. She believes this practice is the easiest way to find clarity and help you make decisions the next day.
Participating in this ritual allows her to fully connect with the land and immerse herself in its sounds, scents, and textures. She can hear the voice of the land, breathe her breath and smell it. “She brings peace of mind and healing,” Dennis says.
Like Denise, her son Angus sees the benefits that agroecological principles can bring to his mental health. He has found solace in regenerative farming, especially during low times in his life.
“There was a time when my mental health was pretty low, and regenerative farming was a really powerful tool to improve my mental health,” says Angus.
