This year’s Employee Appreciation and Hokie Wellness Fair was held at Lane Stadium on May 15 as a day of employee fun.
All faculty, staff, and non-student salaried employees who work on the Blacksburg campus or the surrounding area were invited.
Approximately 3,000 employees participated despite the bad weather.
“This is the third year the university has hosted this fun event for staff to come together, relax, and celebrate the end of a busy academic year,” said Brian Gary, vice president of human resources. . “This event is an opportunity for the university to thank our staff for their dedication and hard work before the holiday season begins.”
Employees also gathered and participated in all kinds of events. During the four-hour period, employees can relax and enjoy a concession-style lunch, listen to DJ Flex’s music and dance, gather friends to participate in the popular 360-degree video booth and photo booth, and play a variety of games. New this year, the American Red Cross hosted a blood drive and a food drive at Virginia Tech’s Market, where employees delivered more than 275 pounds of nonperishable food and personal hygiene products. The lottery winners will be announced soon!
The Hokie Wellness Fair, sponsored in part by Warm Hearth Village and Home2 Suites by Hilton, hosted more than 60 exhibitors with a mix of perks, health, wellness and Virginia Tech exhibitors.
Employees enjoyed their massages. Visited with all three therapy dogs from Virginia Tech’s Cook Counseling Center. I received vaccinations, acupuncture, and a health check. more.
In addition to the Employee Appreciation Day and Hokie Wellness Fair events in Blacksburg, Virginia Tech hosts many events across the commonwealth to thank our employees for their service and dedication. These events are handled locally, at different times, and in different ways appropriate to the location.
Upcoming events include:
- DC area will hold an Employee Appreciation Day on Wednesday, May 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Northern Virginia Center in Falls Church, Virginia.
- roanoke will host FBRI Employee Appreciation Day on Friday, May 24th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
