Vitamin C and retinol are the gold standard of clinically proven active ingredients, with decades of research backing their skin-beautifying benefits. Unfortunately, when applied topically, both Vitamins A and C are notorious not only for their outstanding benefits, but also for causing irritation and excessive drying, especially for those with sensitive skin.

One of Drunk Elephant’s best-selling products, C-Firma Vitamin C Serum, now has a new sister product that provides the radiance-boosting benefits of a traditional antioxidant serum without the unpleasant side effects. Introducing C-Luma Serum, a gentler yet equally effective Vitamin C formula for sensitive skin or antioxidant newbies.

“Vitamin C is truly beneficial for everyone, but not everyone has been able to find what works for them. We’ve heard calls for a lower-potency alternative to C-Firma, our high-potency formula that uses a 15 percent concentration of ascorbic acid, the most powerful form of vitamin C,” Tiffany Masterson, founder and CCO of Drunk Elephant, told The Daily Beast. “Out of that request from our community, C-Luma was born.”

Drunk Elephant C-Luma Hydra Bright Serum

C-Luma is designed for beginners and “C-resistant” skin care enthusiasts. With just a 10 percent concentration and two forms of vitamin C (9 percent sodium ascorbyl phosphate and 1 percent ascorbyl glucoside), it’s gentler on more tolerant and sensitive skin types without compromising on effectiveness. Of course, seasoned skin care enthusiasts can also benefit from C-Luma, says Masterson. “Advanced vitamin C users who want to incorporate more of this active ingredient into their routine can alternate between C-Firma during the day and C-Luma at night, for immediate results on more complex issues.”

The gentle Vitamin C serum is formulated in a hydrating gel formula with skin-soothing, barrier-strengthening ingredients, including sugarcane-derived squalane and marula oil, to further reduce irritation, excessive dryness, and redness — three common side effects associated with Vitamin C skincare.

Like C-Firma, the more powerful C-Luma offers a number of preventative measures. and In addition to corrective effects such as suppressing pigmentation, reducing fine lines, and reducing dullness, it also has excellent pore tightening and anti-aging effects. [one of the two types of vitamin C used in C-Luma] “C-Luma has a unique talent: studies have demonstrated that concentrations of 3.0% and above are effective at reducing skin blemishes. In C-Luma, we use significantly more for even better results on acne,” Masterson says.

Whether you’re looking for a gentler antioxidant serum that your skin actually loves, or you simply want to elevate your current regimen, Drunk Elephant’s new C-Luma Serum will give your current skin a major boost in radiance — no redness, peeling, or skin cleansing required.
