Agartala: The Tripura State Ayurvedic Medical Council has formally launched the registration of Ayurvedic medical graduates. Dr. Bhinshathi Dey is the first to receive the registration. Dr. Dey, daughter of Shri Sujit Dey, a well-known senior journalist of Dainik Sambad, received her registration card from Acting Director General of Health Services, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Debbarma. This was done in the presence of Registrar Manoranjan Debbarma.
The effort to speed up the establishment of the Tripura State Ayurvedic Medical Council was driven by the directives of Chief Minister Manik Saha. Health Minister Kiran Gitte’s efforts have been crucial. The registration process had been stalled due to internal issues within the council, even though the council was established several years ago. However, the reconstitution of the council on April 17 by Health Minister Gitte has jump-started the process, which is expected to be of great benefit to Ayurvedic doctors in the state.
Dr Bhinshati Dey, who completed her education from Madan Mohan Malviya Ayurvedic University, Udaipur, Rajasthan in 2017 through state government quota, expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Manik Saha and Health Secretary Gitte. She will complete her internship in the academic year 2022-23. She lauded the state government’s efforts in facilitating the registration process.
The restructuring of the Tripura State Ayurvedic Medical Council is expected to immensely benefit Ayurvedic practitioners. Opportunities for pursuing higher education will be provided to practitioners through All India Counselling. However, it has been noted that while the offline registration process has been launched, the online registration process remains stalled. This is due to delays by the state Information Technology Department.
This milestone marks a new chapter for Ayurvedic medical students and professionals in Tripura, enhancing their prospects and recognising their qualifications within the healthcare system. Dr. Bhinshati Dey’s successful registration sets a precedent for many others, who are awaiting their official accreditation. It is expected that the online registration system will be operational soon, which will further streamline the process.
