Do you want to avoid the summer sun?Research says vitamin D deficiency can cause cancer, so be careful

According to experts, a little sunlight exposure can help the body produce vitamin D, and sunbathing is not required to promote vitamin D production.

New Delhi: Vitamin D or sunlight nutrient is one of the most essential minerals for overall health. It boosts immunity and strengthens bones and teeth alike. This nutrient is also essential for mental health. Experts say vitamin D deficiency can weaken bones and cause depression, but one study says it can also increase your risk of cancer. Researchers say this nutrient, produced by the body when exposed to sunlight, promotes the growth of tumor-fighting bacteria in the intestines. Experts say this could pave the way for complex treatments in the future.

How does vitamin D deficiency affect cancer risk?

According to experts, vitamin D can regulate the intestinal microbiota and support bacterial growth in mice to increase immunity against cancer. Researchers say this could be essential for human cancer treatment. However, we cannot be completely sure what effect this nutrient has on the intestines. Vitamin D can also be obtained from foods such as oily fish, red meat, and eggs. Previous research has shown that the vitamin helps the body retain calcium, a nutrient that helps build bones and control infections while reducing inflammation. The study, published in the journal Science, evaluated how much vitamin D affects cancer risk.

An analysis of data from 1.5 million people in Denmark pointed out that vitamin D can have a significant impact on cancer risk. Another analysis found that cancer patients who took vitamin D were more likely to respond better to immunotherapy. Further research showed that patients had better immune resistance to the transplanted cancer. It was discovered that vitamin D acts on intestinal epithelial cells, thereby increasing the levels of Bacteroides fragilis.

In the case of cancer, microorganisms can provide better immunity if the transplanted tumor does not grow as expected. Vitamin D deficiency is also known to cause health problems, but there is less evidence that it is associated with cancer risk. Although the study results established a link between the two, further research is needed in this area to confirm the same.

According to experts, a little sunlight exposure can help the body produce vitamin D, and sunbathing is not required to promote vitamin D production.

How can I get enough vitamin D?

According to researchers, the human body produces vitamin D when the skin is exposed to direct sunlight. For this, you need to expose your face and back to the sun. In addition, vitamin D supplements and some nutritional sources may also be helpful. The best sources of vitamin D are:

  1. mushroom
  2. egg
  3. salmon
  4. sardine
  5. organ meat
  6. milk
