Many sacred sites around the world earn large amounts of money from spiritual tourism each year. But Bodh Gaya, a place of similar spiritual importance to Buddhists, has not been able to attract as many tourists as it should. The Mahabodhi temple complex in Bodhgaya, Bihar is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world. It is believed to be the place where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment, making it a place of great importance to Buddhists around the world.
As a result, there is a high demand for infrastructure development and improvements in the Mahabodhi Corridor to accommodate the large number of pilgrims and tourists who visit the site every year. In a conversation with ANI, Suresh Singh, Chairman, Bodh Gaya Travel Association said, “Bodh Gaya is completely dependent on tourists and these tourists are religious and religious. They have demanded that a Buddhist cloister be established.” “It was built for tourists visiting Bodh Gaya, but it cannot be moved. The government should focus on that.”
“All Buddhists from 27, 28 countries of the world want to come here. We have been insisting to the government that we should develop so that tourists come to Bodh Gaya all year round, but in March After that, flights will stop. We have to tell them that they can come here all year round and we have all the facilities,” he added. Further, Suresh Singh said the government should make arrangements like running a special train from Banaras to Gaya so that tourists can easily come here.
“I have requested the government to open a Buddhist medical college in Gaya, just like there is CMCH in the south. People who have religious feelings towards Buddhism will come for treatment. Tourists should not come. If so, Gaya will benefit. The government should pay a little attention. Bodhgaya offers the most foreign exchange in Bihar,” he said. Sudama Kumar, general secretary of the Hotel Association, said the Bodh Gaya corridor is a real demand for tourists.
“If you look at the Varanasi corridor, the whole system has changed. More tourist attractions were supposed to be developed, but that didn’t happen. Bodhgaya is particularly notable as a cultural heritage site, but the development Niranjana Temple, etc. “Our Bodhgaya river continues to be desilted and due to this the water level of the river is decreasing. “I appeal to everyone to do something for this sacred river,” he said.
During a conversation with ANI, one of the Buddhist monks said that Bodh Gaya lacks hospital facilities and a world-class hospital should be built here.
