Emma Oldershaw, from Dereham, has opened Open Skies Hypnotherapy in the town and wants it to be a place where people can be supported with a range of mental health issues.
Mr Aldershaw quit his 17-year career as a lawyer to start his business, and is currently working part-time jobs as he waits for enough clients to turn the business into a full-time job.

“I work with a wide range of issues including OCD, relationship issues, drug and alcohol misuse, feelings of guilt and shame, PTSD, anxiety, stress and panic,” she said.
“What I want to say is that hypnotherapy is effective, it’s a psychotherapeutic technique that goes back to Freud, and it’s not for pranks or entertainment.

Hypnosis is defined as “a type of mind-body intervention that uses hypnosis to create a state of focused attention and increased suggestibility in the treatment of medical or psychological illnesses or concerns.”

She said: “I get excited every time I get an inquiry,” she said.
“I genuinely want to help people. This job is all about connecting with people. A lot of people don’t have that good of a connection. This goes from deep trauma to abusive relationships and everything in between. This therapy is all about giving people power back.

A session with a therapist costs £60 and your first telephone session is free.
