Deepak Chopra is working with the Chopra Foundation and developer Charles Heath to co-develop a wellness community in Utah’s Heber Valley.
The development, named Ameyali, will feature a boutique resort, residential housing and comprehensive wellness and fitness facilities.
The vision is to harness geothermal waters that have been historically used for nearly 5,000 years and integrate nature, architecture and wellness programs.
The resort was designed by Overland Partners and Alder & Tweed Design, with Under a Tree providing spa consulting services.
Wellness industry luminary Deepak Chopra is co-developing a new wellness community and resort focused on health and longevity, centered around the natural geothermal hot springs in Utah’s Heber Valley.
Named “Ameyali” – an Aztec word meaning “place of healing waters” – the project is a collaboration between Chopra, the Chopra Foundation and developer and managing partner Charles Heath.
With the acquisition of the hot springs property, Heath set out to create a one-of-a-kind resort. His vision is rooted in the global pursuit of extraordinary wellness experiences and partnerships. Throughout this journey, he collaborated with Chopra and the Chopra Foundation to establish a community that fosters transformative human experiences.
Ameyali will feature an 80-room boutique hotel, 24 residences and a wellness centre with more than 50,000 square feet of wellness amenities, including an underground mineral pool. Guests will also have access to a geothermal water circuit, outdoor sauna, sunken lounges and a natural water sanctum that blends in with the beautiful surroundings.
Fitness amenities will include yoga and pilates studios, an outdoor exercise lawn, two pickleball courts, functional fitness spaces and a sanctuary for healing and recovery.
The programs offered at Ameyali’s Wellbeing Centre will be aligned with Chopra’s teachings and the seven pillars of wellbeing – emotional regulation, mindfulness, sleep, nutrition, movement, relationships and laughter.
“Our Utah location offers a wealth of possibilities beyond skiing, from golf to world-class fly fishing, but what really sets our development apart is the perfect blend of awe-inspiring natural beauty, architectural ingenuity and life-changing programs and activities,” Heath says.
“Archeological history suggests that humans have been using these hot springs for nearly 5,000 years. It is rewarding to help future generations of residents and visitors experience the healing benefits of the geothermal waters in this unique collaboration designed with the Chopra Foundation.”
Overlooking Mount Timpanogos and the Wasatch Range of the South-Central Rockies, Ameyali will also feature walking trails, a 55-acre natural geological preserve and biodiverse gardens that will support the property’s farm-to-table dining experience.
The Chopra Foundation selected the property for its North American headquarters. The Ameyali Wellbeing Center will include meeting space to house the future Ameyali Center of Excellence and will be a gathering place for global thought leaders and home to the Chopra Foundation’s curated special events, retreats and think tanks.
The property’s first model home is scheduled for completion in June 2024.
Architecture and Design
Rooted in sustainability, Ameyalli’s understated, nature-oriented architecture was designed by San Antonio-based Overland Partners, with interior design overseen by Alder and Tweed Design.
Spa and wellness consultancy Under A Tree has also been appointed to help deliver the project.
The living and gathering spaces will reflect the region’s Swiss heritage, incorporate natural materials such as wood and potrock from geothermal areas and feature native grasses on the roofs, all designed for the wellness and recreation of multi-generational families.
