Telangana Drugs Controller General (DCA) officials have found that certain medicines in the market have misleading claims on their labels that they can treat “kidney stones” and “rheumatism”, which are in violation of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
The medicines were discovered by DCA officials on May 25 during special operations aimed at uncovering medicines with misleading and objectionable advertisements. In Jagtial, drug inspectors found Stonerock Syrup, an Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Haryana’s Panchkula-based Ruwive Healthcare. The product’s label falsely claimed to treat “kidney stones”. Stock of the medicine was seized during a raid at a medicine shop in Jagtial.
In Adilabad, drug inspectors found an Ayurvedic medicine, “Rheumam Liniment”, manufactured by Maheshwari Pharmaceuticals, based in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, with the product’s label falsely claiming to treat “rheumatism”. Stock of the drug was seized during a raid at a medicine shop in Adilabad.
