Sith meditation increases anger and hatred, increasing the power of the dark side
in The Phantom MenaceQui-Gon Jinn uses a brief pause in his duel with Darth Maul to meditate, as the Jedi Master and Sith apprentice are temporarily separated by an energy force field. Kneeling and closing his eyes, Qui-Gon focused on the light side of the Force, trying to relieve his fatigue and better concentrate. Meanwhile, Maul simply paced back and forth, impatiently waiting for the field to subside so the duel could continue.
Conversely, this latest issue shows that Maul was trained in a much darker art called Sith meditation. By tapping into their darkest emotions like hatred, fear and rage, Sith Lords are able to focus that energy into a greater source of concentration for the dark side. Rather than finding peace and restoration as seen in Jedi meditation, they become stronger and far more ruthless. The same is true of a scene in the new book where Maul explodes in anger and rage when his dark meditations are interrupted by Reminders. And their terrible decision to stay with Moonbender and fight him.
Darth Maul unleashes pure rage on the Moonbender colony
The Sith Trials devised by his master, Darth Sidious
Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, As Mole makes his way through the facility, he systematically executes members of the Reminders.Starting in a magnetically sealed tunnel, the Reminders hope to take down the Sith Lord with repeated waves of blaster fire. However, Maul’s full powers are unleashed, and after defeating all of his opponents, they learn that the entire mission was a Sith test designed by the Master to test Maul’s skills against a variety of combatants. Darth Maul Meditating through the power of the dark side, a Sith technique rarely seen in the orthodox galaxy far, far away.
