Danone The company announced that it will invest 70 million euros in its first medical nutrition production line in France.
The bulk of the investment, 60 million euros, will be used to manufacture around 30 recipes for Danone’s Nutricia oral nutritional supplement for patients.
The Steenvoorde facility will produce around 20 million litres of medical nutrition per year, aiming to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients suffering from malnutrition due to cancer and other diseases.
Danone plans to invest €10 million in new equipment at the Steenvoorde plant that will feature production lines as well as a biomass boiler that is expected to reduce the plant’s carbon dioxide emissions by around 70 percent.
