A County Antrim woman is using hypnotherapy to help people overcome trauma in their lives.
Valerie Crozier Nicol has added a technique to her therapy business, Kaleidoscope VCN, using hypnotherapy to help people deal with trauma they have experienced and promote positive emotional wellbeing.
After undergoing hypnotherapy for her own personal issues, she found it extremely beneficial and wanted to use it to support others, so she decided to start a business out of it.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Valerie said Northern Irish community had been particularly affected by the trauma of years of conflict, with some people not realising they had been affected until much later in life.
She said that although hypnotherapy can be very beneficial for people, it can be a mentally exhausting process and requires a strong commitment to go through with it.
Valerie said: “Northern Irish society is widely affected by trauma because of our history of conflict and what we’ve been through. Trauma has become a normal part of life here and people have chosen to live with it, but a lot of the treatment people receive doesn’t address the underlying causes of the trauma and only masks or hides it temporarily.”
“Trauma can manifest in different ways for different people, including increased anxiety and stress, intrusive thoughts, chronic pain, and flashbacks.”
“I was in this state for years, then I decided to do something about it, so I tried hypnotherapy on myself and was amazed by the results. I felt like a huge burden had been lifted and I was motivated to help others.”
“One of the great things about hypnotherapy is that it can help you deal with personal problems in your life without you having to openly reveal them to others. Hypnotherapy works by tapping into your subconscious mind to solve your problems, rather than talking about them out loud to others.”
“Since I started offering hypnotherapy at Kaleidoscope VCN, I have been inundated with requests for therapy and have received fantastic feedback from people saying that therapy has helped them feel so much better than they were before.”
