NEWTOWN, Pa. — The Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth (CRCHY) continues its “Raising Great Kids” series of interactive programs with “Screenagers – The Next Chapter: Addressing Youth Mental Health in the Digital Age.” We are holding a free screening of “Initiatives” followed by questions. and an answer session.
The free evening will be held at Newtown Middle School, 116 Richboro-Newtown Road, Newtown 18940, on April 17th from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
This film explores the science behind emotional challenges in teens, social media interactions, and most importantly, teaches you important skills to overcome stress, anxiety, and depression. We are examining what can be done at school and at home.
In this documentary, filmmaker Dr. Delaney Ruston finds herself at a loss for how to help her teens who are struggling with their mental health. She strives to understand these challenges and helps parents and educators help teens overcome mental health challenges and develop emotional agility, communication skills, and resilience from stress. I’m trying to figure out how to put it on.
The film features a variety of stories from a wide sample of families with a wide range of challenges, approaches in schools that have proven to be relevant beyond the classroom, and evidence-based ways to help. The special screening will be introduced by CRCHY President Francine E. Block. The session will conclude with a live Q&A after the film with licensed psychologist Dr. Deborah Van Aken and district representatives.
