Conventus Orthopedics announced today that it has acquired Flower Orthopedics, a manufacturer of single-use sterile packaged implants and instrument kits.
According to a news release, Flower Orthopedics has developed a sterile Flower Cube system to eliminate expensive set processing, allowing surgical facilities to complete consecutive cases, increase efficiency and maximize resources.
In addition to its fixed portfolio, Flower also sought to enter the wound care market for orthopedic and podiatric surgeons, attracting interest from Conventus.
“Flower is a great strategic fit with Conventus,” Conventus CEO Rick Epstein said in a release. “With continued concerns about the risk of viruses and infections associated with heavy, reusable orthopedic implant trays, Flower’s Ready-for-Surgery platform is designed to improve operating room efficiency while increasing Reduce exposure to loads.
We continue to develop and acquire innovative products and companies that improve procedures, patient outcomes and safety for orthopedic surgeons and foot and ankle surgeons. ”
Conventus is developing a platform nitinol cage technology to treat proximal humerus and distal radius fractures. The company is currently developing a lower extremity cage implant system along with a new distal fibular intramedullary nail system.
