Dr. Sara Ventorilla, who knows firsthand how difficult it is to have infertility issues and how painful it is to lose a pregnancy, is dedicated to helping as many men and women as possible realize their dreams of parenthood. We are dedicated to supporting you.
These experiences inspired Dr. Ventrilla, an acupuncture and integrative medicine physician, to create Taproot Acupuncture & Herbs, which offers a holistic approach to fertility that combines Chinese medicine, functional medicine, and nutrition. has been established.
The clinic had its grand opening in March 2020, the same day California went into lockdown at the start of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, and opened primarily for patients with infertility issues. Men and women with hormonal health problems and women with other hormonal health issues come to the clinic.
“We cover everything from menarche to hormonal issues, infertility, IVF, illnesses during pregnancy, postnatal care, and perimenopause,” Dr. Ventorilla said.
“All of our practitioners are also trained generalists who treat all types of pain, stress, digestive issues, anxiety, and more,” she says.
Dr. Ventorilla’s interest in holistic approaches to health began in her early 20s when she began suffering from anxiety attacks, insomnia, and body image issues.
To alleviate her symptoms, she began learning about yoga and Chinese medicine.
Dr. Ventorilla was so satisfied with how these practices were working for him that he relocated from Paris to Nanjing, China, and enrolled in a five-year program at Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Dr. Ventrilla completed her training at Jiangsu Provincial Hospital, where she treated thousands of patients, and pursued her teaching in Los Angeles, earning her doctorate in acupuncture and integrative medicine with a focus on women’s health and fertility. Finished.
As Dr. Ventorilla points out, for 2,000 years, acupuncture has helped women feel more at ease during all stages of their menstrual cycle health.
“In many cases, Western medicine has few solutions to offer other than pills and surgery,” she said.
“Our approach, which combines Chinese medicine and nutrition, is gentler yet extremely powerful. Typically within 3 to 6 months of treatment, most of my patients experience the most pain of their lives. They report great success, including fewer periods and no more hot flashes.”
As Dr. Ventorilla pointed out, scientific research shows that acupuncture increases sperm count, improves sperm quality, resolves anovulation in women suffering from PCOS, and dramatically improves the chances of IVF success. This shows that it has the potential to increase
Dr. Ventorilla sees these scientific results firsthand in his practice.
“When it comes to fertility and pregnancy, I’ve seen hundreds of studies, either naturally by regulating the male partner’s ovulation and egg quality or sperm quality, or by couples going through IVF or IVF. “I’m honored to have helped so many couples conceive babies,” she said.
Although Taproot Acupuncture & Herbs focuses on Chinese medicine and nutrition, Dr. Ventorilla said she and the other practitioners on her staff are also familiar with Western medicine.
“This allows us to have a truly integrative practice,” she said.
“It is also a core value of ours to reject any kind of medical gaslighting. There are many people who have spent years with doctors who were not taken seriously, fired, or told they would just have to remove their uterus. We had a lot of patients who came to us after having bounced around. Many of them cried just because we took the time to sit and listen to them and really listen to them. We truly care about our patients.”
Dr. Ventorilla said that as someone who has experienced infertility issues, she is very open when it comes to sharing her story about her infertility, miscarriage, and IVF journey.
“This gives us a very personal understanding of what the patient is going through,” she said.
“Many women come to me who have had a miscarriage. Acupuncture helps the body heal from the physical and emotional trauma that is often taboo and unspoken about. They can then get pregnant and stay pregnant. as it slowly rebuilds the body’s resources.”
Dr. Ventorilla estimates that in his clinic, 90 percent of his patients receive some form of relief from their health problems.
“More than anything, most people enjoy being less stressed and having a safe place to talk and be heard,” she said.
“But normally the body is always adjusting in a beneficial way. I can say that in our clinic we typically see one or two new pregnancies and babies a week. There are no guarantees, but you are sure to see benefits. there is.”
Seeing ultrasound pictures when a patient becomes pregnant or meeting their baby in person when their parents bring them to the clinic are always enjoyable moments for Dr. Ventorilla.
“It feels like there are hundreds of babies,” she said.
