Clothing 2.0, a Conover, North Carolina-based biotechnology company, has developed a patented technology that infuses over-the-counter drugs, vitamins and supplements into yarn to create reusable clothing and textiles. The company was founded in 2023 by Jordan Schindler of Textile-Based Delivery Inc. following the success of its flagship brand, Nufabrx.®A line of compression sleeves that relieve pain through contact stimulation.
Also known as HealthWear™, the FDA-compliant products deliver vitamins and medications through the skin’s pores, replacing topical creams. Ingredients range from menthol and diclofenac for pain relief to salicylic acid for acne. The wearer’s body heat and moisture activate the medication/vitamin.
The garments are designed to protect the infused fibers from hydrolysis and oxidation and can be machine washed up to 15 times. Products featuring Clothing 2.0’s technology are currently available in more than 15,000 retail stores.
“Creams and patches have helped consumers for centuries. Clothing is the obvious next step in delivering OTC ingredients to the body,” Schindler says. “Clothing is one of the oldest industries in the world and has changed very little for millennia. It’s time to ditch version 1.0.”
