Hey Cleveland, I hope you had a chance to enjoy some time in the sun this week. Spring is a great time to learn new skills, contribute to your community, and take time for self-care and reflection. We’ve got ideas for things to do in Cleveland this weekend. If you hear about a great event, please share it with us using the form below.

photoshoot for teens
Teens ages 11 to 18 can learn basic photography skills in a three-week workshop. Classes will be held on three consecutive Saturdays, May 4, 11 and 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center, 2800 Archwood Avenue. A handheld digital camera is ideal for this hands-on workshop, but a mobile phone camera will work just as well.
Visit the center’s website to register.

River Sweep 2024
Protect the Cuyahoga River by participating in a day-long cleanup on Saturday, May 4th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The annual river sweep removes tons of trash from the Big Creek Connector to Booth’s Avenue. Over the past 34 years, 21,000 people have helped him recycle 25,005 illegally discarded tires and he has picked up approximately 1.5 million pounds of trash.
Slab Village continues to need volunteers. Sign up to volunteer on the Canalway Partners website. Cleaning activities will be held rain or shine.

family meditation
Family meditation is held on the first Sunday of each month at Songtsen Gampo Buddhist Center in Lakewood. Each Sunday has a theme such as “Cultivating Joy.” Families participate in short meditation sessions and learn family-friendly practices they can continue at home. Children of all ages are welcome. It has a cushion and slip-on shoes are recommended. Visit our website for more information.
