The annual Women’s Health Fair welcomed hundreds of women to the Cicero Community Center on May 29, 2024. The wellness event began at 1 pm and offered a variety of services to the community. “We really appreciate everyone coming here today. We offer Tai Chi, sound therapy, Vitamin B12 injections, and of course health screenings,” said Vanessa Parrish, Director of Public Health Operations. “We also offer haircuts and nail clippings, so it’s a good way for women to have a little time to pamper themselves.” Women could sign up for raffles and receive information from different community organizations. Women received medical services within the gym and could participate in different classes if they wished. “In our clinic, we offer blood pressure testing, height and weight, other vital signs, and blood tests, including lipid and diabetes screeners,” said Dr. Katherine Skulski, Medical Director. “I think this is a really great opportunity to highlight the importance of women and all of the residents in our community to get involved and really start taking control of their own health.” The Cicero Health Department is open Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 8 pm.
