Melissa Logsdon launched Free Your Mind Body and Soul Wellness in Owensboro in 2018. Since her opening, she has made it her mission to provide her destination for self-care needs including pain relief, improving the immune system, and more.
Logsdon initially started the business with a strong personal purpose: to help his son who suffered a traumatic brain injury.
“I built a business that fosters love and compassion, and it has benefited countless community members, myself, my family, and especially my son,” Logsdon said. “My clients know and experience firsthand the relief they get from pain, anxiety, and toxin overload through their sessions here.”
Services at Free Your Mind Body and Soul Wellness include float therapy, also known as sensory deprivation, myofascial release, infrared sauna use, and ionic foot detox. Last year, Logsdon also earned her LMT certification and began offering massages.
She said float therapy is designed to calm that constant input, limit environmental distractions, and relax the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. Users enter a 10-inch water pod saturated with approximately 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt, creating an “effortless, weightless experience.”
“A significant portion of our brain’s normal workload is spent responding to gravity and constant external stimuli,” she says. “While we recommend this experience be done without lights or sound, you will also have the option to listen to music from your phone and can also use colored lighting.”
Myofascial release can be performed anywhere on the body and consists of applying sustained pressure to targeted connective tissue (fascia) areas to relieve restrictions and stretch them. She said the technique releases myofascial restrictions and improves range of motion while reducing pain.
“Emotional and physical trauma, inflammatory responses, and surgical procedures create limitations that cannot always be seen with many standard tests,” Logsdon said. “Many clients come to me with their last hope and have tried everything for relief. Most find immediate relief after just one session with him.”
When it comes to massage, I pay close attention to the client’s wishes while observing implicit information such as posture, gait, facial expressions, body movements and the way they fall on the table.
“I use my hands to look at the fascial planes throughout the tissue, feeling for any restrictions or abnormal movement, areas where the skin temperature changes, or areas where the texture is not quite the same,” she said. “You will receive the best intuitive massage using a variety of techniques to perfectly meet your preferences and needs for instant relaxation and muscle relief.”
Logsdon provides essential oils, hot towels, and tools such as cupping and kasha scrapers at no additional charge.
Infrared saunas use infrared heaters to directly heat the body, making it easier to tolerate the heat.
“It relieves joint pain, rejuvenates the skin, and helps fight oxidative stress,” she said. “Chromotherapy (color light therapy) can be added at no additional charge to create an experience tailored to your specific needs. Our infrared saunas are tested to ensure they are low EMF .”
In an ionic foot detox, Rogdon uses an ionizer to charge water with positive and negative ions. According to her, this process flushes toxins from the body through natural bowel, bladder, and sweating processes for up to four days after the session.
“When a reaction to the enzyme occurs, a change in the color of the water occurs.” This gives information about areas of the body that are more congested. Based on the color of your water, you’ll receive recommendations for supplements and food changes you can make to keep your body in top shape. ”
Logsdon said the service is popular with groups because it accommodates up to four people at a time, and friends often compare and joke about who is the most “toxic.”
“The community has expanded greatly through social media and word of mouth,” she said. “I also have a number of doctors, chiropractors, speech therapists, physical therapists, and counseling therapists who are always sharing their experiences and sending me referrals.”

“I am excited to be a part of this community and to see so many local small businesses, even those in similar industries, willing to support each other while creating their own business identity. I really like his attitude,” Logsdon said. “Owensboro has a lot of character and character across small businesses, and we are honored to contribute to the unique character of our city.”
