Aging Resources of Central Iowa offers a Farmers Market Nutrition Program in Marion County.
It’s a way to provide Iowa seniors with fresh fruits, vegetables and honey from farmers markets and produce stands, and it’s something that could work at any farmers market in the state, said Del Bennett, senior nutrition director for Marion County Public Health.
“Seniors age 60 and older can receive up to $50 in farmers market vouchers through Senior Assistance to use at any farmers market in Iowa.”
The program is based on income, and must be below $27,861 for one-person households and $37,814 for two-person households. More information on the program can be found here. Link.
