The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), under the Ministry of Health of India, will hold a one-day national conference on setting research priorities in traditional medicines on June 24, 2024 in New Delhi.
The event will bring together representatives from various fields of traditional medicine, including policy makers, researchers, patients and industry players, with an objective to identify and prioritise key areas of research in diverse traditional medicine systems, including Aryan medicine, Siddha medicine, Unani medicine and Homeopathy, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) said in a statement.
The conference will also develop a research roadmap for the next 10 years in collaboration with the World Health Organization South-East Asia Regional Office (WHO-SEARO) and the WHO-GTMC (World Health Organization Global Traditional Medicine Centre).
The press statement added that the initiative aims to ensure effective utilisation of funds and address critical needs of traditional medicine, paving the way for its global acceptance and integration.
To strengthen research capacity in Indian traditional medicine and promote its global acceptance, the Government has designated the National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage (NIIMH) as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Basic and Textual Research in Traditional Medicine (WHOCC IND-177).
