The Cayuga County Agency on Aging hosted a celebratory picnic on June 4 to honor the contributions of seniors, especially the volunteers of the agency’s Senior Nutrition Program. More than 85 volunteers deliver hot meals every weekday to homebound seniors in Cayuga County. Others help serve meals at congregate meals in the City of Auburn. Last year, these volunteers worked nearly 7,000 hours and delivered 75,741 meals to more than 400 residents. In monetary terms, the volunteers contributed $131,599 worth of their time to the community. We are grateful for their dedication.
The celebration included hors d’oeuvres donated by Trio Community Meals, a barbecue lunch and ice cream, music and door prizes for volunteers. The Department of Aging would like to thank the following people for donating door prizes:
- Biddleman Ford
- Cayuga Lake National Bank
- Carly’s Tavern
- Dutch Hollow Country Club
- Generations Bank
- Mackenzie Childs
- Moro’s Kitchen
- Moro’s Table
- Prison City Brewing
- White Rabbit Roasting Co.
