(W): George Town and French Market
If you were in Georgetown over the weekend, you knew without a shadow of a doubt that Georgetown was back, baby. It certainly seemed like a record-breaking weekend of attendance. The venue was packed.
A regional favorite, the 21st Annual Georgetown French Market returns to Book Hill on Wisconsin Avenue — April 26-28 — sponsored by the Georgetown Business Improvement District. More than 40 local boutiques, antique stores, restaurants, salons and galleries displayed discounted items at the open-air market, along with food and drink specials.
“So many people support the businesses along Wisconsin Avenue, whether they’re returning to an old favorite or discovering a new one for the first time,” said Debbie Young, BID event director. It was great to see.” “Many of our merchants said this was the most successful French He market ever.”
Alexa Johnson of Ella Lou’s boutique on P Street called the scene “surreal.”

Out (but): Former Foxtrot manager plans barbecue
Foxtrot, the upscale coffee shop and convenience store that closed permanently on April 23rd, has become a very strange business story, with employees and customers stunned by the sudden closure. The company was founded in Chicago in 2014 and has expanded to 33 locations in the Chicago, Austin, Dallas, and Washington DC areas.
Georgetown Foxtrot, located at the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and N Street, opened in March 2021. Store Manager Kyle Young and Team Georgetown posted the following message at the entrance: There was no notification. Please keep our staff in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you very much for your support over the years. we miss you. ”
Afterward, Young told The George Towner that he was planning a barbecue for his staff, saying, “Foxtrot has been an incredible contribution to Georgetown. It’s not just a chain restaurant, it’s actually a small to midsize restaurant. It was run like a business. I had regulars that I met every day and people came to network and meet friends and family. We had locals as well as people just visiting. It was a great place to go and had great products that people loved. We built a strong sense of community in the store, and we will miss it tremendously.”
