Becky has been a staff writer since 2018, when Food debuted its sub-brand Voraciously, and was the first choice to explain cooking techniques and develop approachable recipes. Her how-to articles and recipes quickly became reader favorites. As co-host with Aaron Hutcherson of the team’s weekly Cooking Chat with Readers, she answers all sorts of cooking questions, including whether to use the Instant Pot’s yogurt setting to ferment a sourdough starter. We’ve established ourselves as a trusted go-to resource (no) and whether cutting out sugar will stop your cookies from spreading (yes). She also actively engages with her readers in the comments section, frequently using her thread of active comments to create smart user-generated tips, and what it means to build community and habits around your content. I provided an example.
For several years, Becky has been in charge of our annual holiday cookie collection, leading brainstorming, finding contributors, curating selections, editing recipes, and more. These packages are characterized by a combination of accessibility and versatility. She also collaborated weekly (and in some cases daily) with her product and engineering teams to iron out all the details related to a thorough review of the digital her recipe experience over the last year. I worked with Matt.
Becky has been with the Post since 2007 as an editorial assistant for TV Week and Sunday Source. Before finding her place at Food, she worked for five years as an editorial assistant at Travel. A graduate of the University of Virginia, she lives in Arlington with her husband, Josh, and her son, Nathan.
Join us in celebrating Becky’s new mission, which will begin soon.
