Mumbai: In Hinduism, it is believed that worship of Hanumanji reduces all kinds of troubles and obstacles. Tuesday is considered very auspicious and is dedicated to Hanumanji, also known as Bajrang Bali. Worshipping Lord Hanuman gains more importance in the month of Jyeshtha (Jesus), especially on Tuesday. There will be four Bada Mangal days in the month of Jyeshtha in 2024.

Jyeshtha month 2024

As per the Hindu calendar, Purnima (full moon) will begin on May 22, 2024 at 6:48 PM and end on May 23, 2024 at 7:23 PM. Jyeshtha month will begin on the first day of the waning moon (Pratipada) on May 24, 2024. As a result, the first Bada Mangal will be held on May 28, 2024.

Importance of Vadamangal

Every year, four to five Tuesdays have special significance as per religious beliefs. Special rituals are performed on these special Tuesdays, known as Bada Mangal or Buddha Mangal. These days fall in the month of Jyeshtha and it is said that by worshipping Hanumanji on these days, people will be freed from all troubles and obstacles.

Tuesday in the month of Jyeshtha is dedicated to the worship of Hanumanji.

It is believed that fasting and worshipping Lord Hanuman on Bada Mangal will relieve sorrows and sufferings and remove the fear of evil spirits.Great feasts (Bhandaras) are held at Hanuman temples during Bada Mangal and devotees believe that fasting and worshipping on this day will remove negativity from their lives.

Vadamangal dates 2024

This year, the Bada Mangal days will span four days.

  • First Vadamangal: May 28, 2024
  • Vadamangal 2: June 4, 2024
  • Vadamangal III: June 11, 2024
  • 4th Vadamangal: June 18, 2024

Why is Buddha Mangal celebrated?

According to legend, during the time of Mahabharata, Bhima became arrogant about his power. To subjugate Bhima, Hanuman assumed the form of an old monkey (Buddha Vanar). This event took place on Tuesday, Buddha Mangal.

There is also a legend in the Ramayana that when Hanumanji went to Lanka in search of Sita, Ravana mocked him and imprisoned him. Hanumanji destroyed Ravana’s pride by setting Lanka on fire. This event took place on a Tuesday in the month of Jyeshtha, hence adding to the importance of Buddha Mangal.

Bada Mangal Ceremony

The ritual can be performed in the following ways:

  • Get up early before sunrise (Brahma Muhurta), take a bath and wear clean clothes.
  • The idol of Hanuman is washed with water from the Ganges.
  • Offerings to Hanumanji include dope, deep and ed flowers, akshat, sandalwood paste (chandan) and a red or orange loincloth (langot).
  • Sweets like motichoor ladoo and boondi are offered as prasad.
  • They will visit the Hanuman temple, receive darshan (prayer to the god) and distribute food to the needy.
  • Offer banyan tree leaves to Hanumanji and then immerse the dried leaves in the holy river.

Bada Mangal Mantra

Peace, prosperity and happiness can be achieved by chanting the following mantra 108 times every Bada Mangal.

Om namo hanumate rudravataraya vishwarupaya amit vikramaya.
Prakatparakramaya Mahabharaya Surya Kotisamaprabhaya Ramduttaya Swaha.

It is believed that observing the rituals and chanting this mantra during the Bada Mangal of Jyeshtha will bring immense blessings and make all your wishes come true.
