New Delhi: Shri According to an official order issued on Tuesday, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha has been extended in his term as Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, by one year.
The Central government has sanctioned third extension to AYUSH Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, extending his term up to June 28, 2025. This marks his third extension in the post.
The Cabinet Committee on Personnel has approved the extension of AYUSH Secretary Kotecha’s term on contract basis for one year from June 28, 2024, i.e. up to June 28, 2025, the personnel ministry said in an order issued on June 18, news agency PTI reported.
Kotecha was appointed as the Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani Therapy, Siddha Therapy and Homeopathy) in 2017. He has been granted two two-year extensions in 2020 and 2022.
The Ministry of AYUSH will be the nodal ministry for the observation of this grand event.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the major celebrations of International Yoga Day at Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar on June 21.
The Ministry of AYUSH was established on November 9, 2014 with a vision of reviving the deep knowledge of ancient systems of medicine with emphasis on education and research in Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy.
Earlier, the Indian Department of Medical and Homoeopathic Systems (ISM&H), established in 1995, was responsible for developing these systems.
Medical Dialogue team had earlier reported that Yoga Mahotsav 2024, a grand event to mark the 100-day countdown to International Yoga Day 2024, was held at Vigyan Bhavan. The event was organised around this year’s International Yoga Day theme, “Yoga for Women Empowerment”. International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21. This year marks its 10th anniversary.
