Ayurvedic skin care company Sahajan has closed its first round of funding.
The Toronto, Canada-based brand, which specializes in “clean” formulations, said the shares will fuel growth in North America.
The brand’s targeted growth strategies include increased marketing spend, retail store expansion, clinical trials, and new product launches.
In addition, Sahajan said the company is building a global footprint through partnerships with luxury hotels such as the St. Regis, The Ritz, JW Marriott and W Hotels.
Founded in 2015 by former pharmaceutical executive Lisa Mattam, Sahajan has remained entirely in-house to date.
Investors in this funding round include Ridgeline Ventures, Wonderment Ventures, actor Yvonne Strahovski (star of The Handmaid’s Tale), poet and artist Rupi Kaur, Lululemon executive Celeste Burgoyne, dermatologist They include physician Dr. Shannon Humphrey and veteran consumer investor Manika Blain.
