Murali Tumarkukudi, director of the UN’s G20 Global Land Initiative, highlighted the potential for big data analytics to advance Ayurveda and address concerns about the lack of evidence-based research into the system.
He inaugurated the Foundation Day celebrations of the Vaidyaratnam Group here on July 12. The event commemorates the group’s founder, Ashtavaidyan E. T. Neelakandan Moose (1904-1997).
“Ayurveda can leverage artificial intelligence to validate its age-old principles. Ayurveda has always been a part of my life. It is a global phenomenon and is practiced in many countries across the world,” said Tumarkukudi. “Traditional and complementary medicine, practiced in various countries, offers relatively affordable healthcare. Ayurveda has great potential for geriatrics, especially for Kerala’s ageing population. The future lies in the integration of Ayurveda with modern medicine,” he added. Tumarkukudi also presented the Vaidyaratnam Vidvatta award.
Mr. KG Paulose, former Vice Chancellor, Kalamandalam University, Kerala, delivered the commemorative address and lauded E.T. Neelakandan Moose as a visionary leader who took the Vaidyaratnam Group to greater heights. He advocated exploring Ayurveda with advanced research techniques to fight pandemics like COVID-19.
The foundation day, marking the 27th death anniversary of Ashtavaidyan E. T. Neelakandan Moose, was presided over by Dr Ashtavaidyan E. T. Neelakandan Moose, Managing Director of the Vaidyaratnam Group. “People from all walks of life agree that Ayurveda is a real science,” he stressed, urging the Ayurvedic community to counter misinformation being spread on social media.
