Go ahead and criticize me if you want, but I’m the type of girl who will do my hair in the morning and then head to a Pilates class (or two) right after. And I’m unashamed about how I do it! When I mentioned this to celebrity hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimmons the morning of an in-salon event for his new line of ponytail extensions, the Andrew Fitzsimmons x Bellami 24-Inch Ponytail ($295), he took a moment to slick my hair back and asked me if I was kidding. I replied, “No.” My back-to-back session was starting in about an hour and a half, so I couldn’t miss it.

You can’t really blame him for his reaction, though. Going to the salon in the morning and then going to work out seems incredibly counterproductive. But as a beauty professional, especially in this ridiculous economy, I have no qualms about taking extreme measures to determine whether a product or service is truly worth the hype and price.
To add depth to the story, he had plenty to do that day (including a nap) and barely had time to style his hair before attending his press dinner later that evening. Such is life.
So, will Fitzsimmons’ new ponytail hair extensions hold up? Read on to find out.

What I like about Andrew Fitzsimmons and BelAmi’s ponytail
The brand decided to partner with Bellami, a celebrity hairstylist who has become his go-to for many A-list clients, including Megan Fox and Jennifer Lopez. “One of my favorite styles to create with my clients is a super sophisticated ponytail that can be worn for both everyday and the red carpet,” he tells PS magazine. “One of the most common questions I get asked is how to achieve the perfect ponytail at home, so it was a natural fit to work with Bellami to create a collection of ready-to-go, ready-to-wear ponytails.”
The extensions are made from 100% Remy human hair with a straight texture. But because of the product’s high quality, you can use just about any styling method to blend seamlessly with different textures. “You can use hot tools to achieve a variety of looks, including curls, crimps, and straightening,” Fitzsimmons says.
Available in a shade to suit almost everyone, these extensions are ideal for anyone looking to add density to their ponytail or take a traditional upstyle to a new level – and once you’re done, they can be safely stored in the included reusable decorative box.
The first Pilates class I took wasn’t too intense; there was a focus on balance and flexibility. But the second? It nearly wore me out. The class was a mix of both mat and reformer Pilates, with a dash of barre thrown in for good measure.
It wasn’t easy, but I didn’t shy away from any exercise to get my hair in shape. I did what was necessary and it was worth the money. However, my natural hair and The ponytail was still intact and she looked flawless at the press conference dinner.
But it’s only natural that we also give a nod to Fitzsimmons’ eponymous haircare products: He treated me to his Prism Shine Invisible Shine Hairspray ($16) and Hard Strong Hold Hairspray ($16), both of which held up throughout my chaotic day. do not have I left residue on the cushion I took a nap on during the day. Amen.

Andrew Fitzsimmons x Bellami How to use a ponytail
I had the ponytail extensions applied at a salon, but they are very easy to apply at home.
Fitzsimmons recommends first trimming your hair to your desired ponytail height and securing it with a hair elastic. Next, grab the extensions and secure them to your natural hair with a five-tooth inner comb.
“Backcomb the top of the ponytail slightly to secure it in place. Place a comb between the hair elastic and the backcomb,” he says. “Then wrap the side with the hook at the end to secure the ponytail in place. Next, wrap a strand of the hair wrap around the base of the ponytail and secure with a bobby pin.”
When it comes to styling and blending into your natural hair, the celebrity stylist suggests using a hard-hold hairspray and your favorite hot tool or edge gel to get the finish you want.
What to consider before trying the Andrew Fitzsimmons x Belami ponytail
When it comes to quality and ease of use, I have no doubt that this ponytail is worth every penny, but there are a few things to keep in mind before you add these extensions to your shopping cart.
If your hair isn’t long enough to tie in a ponytail, it’s a good idea to let it grow out before putting extensions in. Also, if you’re currently noticing hair thinning or have been diagnosed with alopecia, it’s best to avoid anything that may strain or cause tension on your natural hair.
Where can I buy the Andrew Fitzsimons x Bellami ponytail?
