The survey, conducted with YouGov, found that one in three Americans feels anxious or fearful about aging, and nearly one in two adults take supplements to combat the inevitable process of aging. It turned out that there was.

Regarding attitudes toward aging, the report identified the key motivations behind how Americans choose to behave at every age and life stage.

The study involved 537 youth ages 13 to 17 and 2,408 adults in the United States.

The top four worst effects of aging, other than physical limitations, found in the report are: Americans’ diminished social worth (17%), wrinkles and fine lines (17%), and wrinkles and fine lines (17%). %), appearing less attractive to others (15%), and having gray or thinning hair (15%).

To slow or combat aging, 65% of respondents said they were eating healthier and exercising, and 45% said they were taking supplements.

Multi-generational concerns

Colin Watts, CEO of Thorne, said one of the most notable takeaways from the report is that concerns about aging are pervasive among younger generations, but said that concerns about aging were usually limited to people who were already experiencing signs of aging.

“Consumers of all ages and life stages are now living healthier lives, eating differently, exercising smarter, paying attention to their sleep and mental health, listening to multiple sources of advice, and choosing to naturally consumers are increasingly seeking nutritionally-based alternatives,” he said. “A common thread across generations is that when it comes to living longer, healthier lives, data shows Americans are willing to take preventative and proactive steps early, and industry This shows that the time is ripe for further education on healthy aging, and Thorne remains committed.”

In today’s world, many people are influenced by society and social media when it comes to staying fit and healthy. However, a different approach is being taken when it comes to aging. The report notes that approximately one in five Americans seeks advice from their health care provider to slow the aging process or maintain a youthful appearance. This shows that consumers recognize the importance of seeking professional guidance to address the challenges of aging. Additionally, about 30% said they would take supplements to help them age healthily if their doctor recommended it.

“This drive creates a critical need for education about the quality and effectiveness of dietary supplements, as well as where and how they are made,” Watts said.

Supplement brands can tackle this problem by getting personal information

Watts said consumers are ready and willing to invest in their health, but they need more guidance about who and how to trust.

“Consumers are exposed to too many messages from a growing number of sources, many of which are misleading, so the industry has a responsibility to change the meaning of aging,” he said. “There is a real opportunity for supplement brands to educate and empower consumers by offering a personalized, science-driven approach to health and wellness. We found that people were hungry for easy-to-digest resources.”

Americans are taking supplements for internal beauty purposes, but Watts noted that the specific ingredients vary from person to person.

“When it comes to supplements, there is no one size fits all,” he said. “While Thorne focuses on a personalized approach and is keenly aware of the products and ingredients that are trending on social media and other sources, we also recognize that aging looks different for everyone. doing.

“We strongly encourage consumers to understand their needs through trusted sources, including their health care providers, before deciding which supplements are right for them.”

market

Sustainability market research pointed out that biotin is the most popular ingredient worldwide, especially when it comes to hair health, improving overall quality, reducing hair loss, and strengthening hair.

The fastest growing segment is the minerals segment, and zinc is particularly important in this growth. Zinc plays an important role in skin health, wound healing, and maintaining strong nails and hair. The ingredient’s effectiveness in treating skin problems and promoting overall health has increased the demand for beauty supplements containing zinc.

In terms of functionality, anti-aging skin care occupies the largest share. This advantage can be attributed to the prevalence of collagen, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants (vitamins C and E), which improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
