As per the Hindu calendar, the tithi of Ashadha Amavasya begins at 4:57 AM on July 5th with sunrise at 5:29 AM on the same day. The tithi ends at 4:26 AM on July 6th with sunrise at 5:29 AM on the same day.
Since Tithi begins during sunrise on July 5 and ends before sunrise on July 6, Ashadha Amavasya will be celebrated on Friday, July 5. This is considered to be the correct date for the event.
