The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has successfully organised the second national seminar ‘SAUSHRUTAM Shalya Sangoshti’ in 2024, said a PIB press release.
The seminar was organised by the Department of Sharia and Tantra at AIIA, New Delhi and was dedicated to Sushruta, considered the father of surgery.
The seminar featured 25 complex surgical procedures being performed live, giving participants an opportunity to observe and learn various surgical techniques from renowned surgeons. The surgeries were performed on patients suffering from conditions like fistula, hemorrhoids, pilonidal sinus, gallbladder stones, hernia etc. New techniques like VAAFT, laparoscopy, laser as well as the traditional Sheila technique were used.

Saushrutam, hosted by the Faculty of Sharia Tantra, epitomizes our dedication to integrating Ayurveda with cutting edge surgical techniques and empowering aspiring Ayurvedic surgeons with advanced skills and confidence in integrative surgical practice,” said Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Nesari, Chairperson, AIIA.
The third day of the seminar featured the Sushruta Pujan ceremony and the climax of the event, the Paper Presentation Competition, where prizes were awarded and participants were thanked.
The event was also well received by other eminent personalities including Dean, Prof. Anand More and other senior faculty members of AIIA.
