New Delhi, July 15 (IANS) The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) on Monday successfully conducted its second national seminar ‘Sashrutam Sharia Sangoshti’ on the auspicious occasion of Sushruta Jayanti 2024, the Ministry of Ayurveda said.
Sushruta Jayanti is celebrated every year on July 15th to honour the legendary Sushruta, who is considered the father of surgery.
The three-day seminar was held in the capital starting July 13.
“Since its inception, AIIA has been committed to uplifting Ayurveda globally. Sasrutam, hosted by the Faculty of Sharia Tantra, embodies our dedication to integrating Ayurveda with cutting-edge surgical techniques to empower aspiring Ayurvedic surgeons with advanced skills and confidence in integrative surgical practices,” said Prof. Dr. Tanuja Nesari, President, AIIA.
The event featured 25 complex surgical procedures performed live, allowing attendees to observe and learn various surgical techniques from renowned surgeons.
Live surgeries performed using modern technologies like Video Assisted Anal Fistula Treatment (VAAFT), Laparoscopy, Laser and traditional Sheila techniques include Bagandar (Anal Fistula), Arsha (Haemorrhoids), Pilonidal Sinus, Gallbladder Stones, Hernia etc.
“Around 1,500 patients have benefited from AIIA surgical procedures in the last one year,” the AYUSH ministry said.
