Albuquerque Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine (AAIM) is a local clinic specializing in the treatment of complex chronic conditions such as neurological disorders and autoimmune diseases. Dr. Andrea Brogdon leads the clinic, which specializes in combining Chinese and Western medicine techniques to help patients heal. Her goal, she says, is to bring hope to cases that seemed hopeless and help patients regain their quality of life.
One of the primary things Dr. Brogdon treats is chronic pain conditions. One of her patients, Sharon Garica, said the pain was so severe that she considered using a wheelchair to get around.
“I started having all kinds of leg problems. I started having neuropathy and the pain wouldn’t go away.” Sharon Garcia, an AAIM patient, said, “I was having trouble sleeping. It was so big that I wanted to go there in a wheelchair if possible.”
Garcia said she visited several doctors and podiatrists, but no one could help her. Her driving force as her illness improved, she says, was to continue caring for her son. “How bad will I get? I have to be able to take care of my son. He’s everything to us,” Garcia says.
Garcia said her doctor continued to give her medication, causing her to become groggy. She was looking for more natural healing methods. “She didn’t want to take drugs,” Garcia said. “So I saw a news article about this, and it talked about reducing neuropathy.”
Garcia decided to pick up the phone and call Dr. Brogdon, and she says she’s very happy with her decision. “She’s feeling great… It’s amazing how much of a help it really is. It’s amazing. She’s so happy they found her,” Garcia said.
