A woman who received help from a hypnotherapist to overcome ‘random’ abdominal pains later qualified herself.
Originally from Estonia, Lina Karpocheva moved to the UK as a student in 2010. She spent her three years at the University of the West of Scotland in Ayr, where she graduated with a degree in Broadcast Production.
The 33-year-old went to Germany for a year on an exchange Erasmus programme, then returned to Scotland and worked in Edinburgh for about two years. She currently practices Happy Wellbeing Hypnotherapy in Liverpool, where she moved here in 2016 for several years.

Rina told the ECHO: “What we do as hypnotherapists and what celebrities do on TV are completely different things. The difference is, I’m there to heal.”
“Entertainers entertain people who are receptive to suggestion. The mind is a very powerful thing, and when you’re hypnotized, you can’t actually do anything against your will. It’s self-hypnosis, and the more susceptible you are to suggestion, the more likely you are to succumb to it.” That’s what TV hypnotists play. ”
Lina had been suffering from abdominal pain for about two years and decided to give it a try after reading a newspaper article about someone who had undergone hypnotherapy to treat the same symptoms as her. She found her hypnotherapist in Woolton who helped Lina qualify and then set up her own business.
She said: “I could barely walk and the pain felt like someone had punched me in the stomach. The duration of the pain was random, ranging from a few minutes to an hour or more, with the same pain occurring several times a day. ” until the time of childbirth.
“I was treated by a hypnotherapist for six weeks and made a significant improvement. I benefited so much that I decided I wanted to become a hypnotherapist and help others.”
Two weeks before giving birth to her son in 2019, Lina qualified and then started Happy Wellbeing. You will have a free 1 hour consultation to confirm if you wish to proceed and Lina will assess if we can work together and if the agreed sessions are 1 hour a week and she will last 6 weeks.
She says, “During a hypnotherapy session, people lie down, but the most important thing is to make sure they are relaxed, almost as relaxed as they were just before falling asleep, like in a hypnotic state.” .”
“People come to me for a variety of reasons, including depression, sports performance, weight management, bereavement, and anxiety. We will help you explore and find answers. And listen more to your feelings.
“If you don’t listen to your feelings, you’ll become psychosomatic (commonly known as medically unexplained symptoms, real symptoms, not fake), and by not listening, It can make you feel worse than you actually are.”
The NHS states that “around one in four people who visit their GP have unexplained physical symptoms.” Hypnotherapy is not usually available on the NHS, so GPs may refer people to talk therapy.
A former service user said: “Lina, thanks to your help I am now so close to my ideal weight. You cannot tell me how much you have changed my life and outlook.” I did.
Another said: “Lina is an amazing hypnotherapist. She helped me get rid of a lot of the negative emotions I had been carrying for years and helped me focus on my back injury.”
“I feel so much better and have become more positive and optimistic about the future. If you have any concerns about hypnotherapy, try Lina. She will put you completely at ease. Definitely 100% recommended.”
Lina does not need to be in the same room and sessions can be done by phone or video call. She said: “It’s about helping people take back control of their lives, make good decisions and release emotional blocks.
“We help people change their stories and their perceptions of trauma, so you heal. Rather than feeding your mind suggestions like TV, we talk, debate, and self-help.” There are sports psychologists and hypnotherapists, but they have different names.” Football players and celebrities also use them. ”
