Naval Reservist Matilyn Ross began a new entrepreneurial journey by launching Wellness Remedies, a holistic wellness business supporting civilians and veterans. Ross’ path to entrepreneurship was marked by determination and the invaluable support of organizations such as Veterans Development America (VGA).
Ross’ adventure into the world of wellness began with a desire to find purpose outside of military service. Initially joining the Naval Reserve to help fund his education, Ross, inspired by his military experience and his family’s history of service, developed his passion for community service and holistic care. “When I first joined the Naval Reserve, I thought it was a way to pay for school. But halfway through boot camp, I realized that a traditional education wasn’t for me.” said Ross. “I felt fulfilled in serving my country and wanted to continue to make a difference.”
The turning point came when Ross discovered VGA during a pop-up event in Waldorf, Maryland. Ross, a veteran veteran, recognized the potential for growth and connections within his community and decided to seize the opportunity to become a VGA vendor.
“Discovering Veterans Growing America was a game-changer for me,” Ross reflected. “Their support and guidance helped shape Wellness Remedies into what it is today.”
Since joining Stonebridge’s VGA’s vibrant entrepreneurial community, Wellness Remedies has flourished. Ross credits VGA with providing a supportive environment that helped her hone her marketing strategy and develop her pitch.
“At VGA, we encourage sharing our stories and connecting with our customers on a personal level. This emphasis on storytelling has been key to our success,” BrRossyant explained. “It’s not just about selling products. It’s about building relationships and having a positive impact.”
Looking to the future, Ross envisions expanding Wellness Remedies beyond the East Coast and establishing a holistic wellness center with her mother, who is a therapist.
“Our goal is to provide comprehensive care that meets the diverse needs of our local and national communities,” Ross said. “With the support of organizations like VGA, we are confident we can continue to grow and make a difference in people’s lives.”
Although Ross continues to overcome challenges as an entrepreneur, her commitment to serving others and fostering community remains unwavering. Through partnerships with organizations such as Veterans Growing America, Ross’ vision for Wellness Her Remedies has continued success and impact.
