Jean Boal is a woman of many gifts and deep experience. With 25 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse, she has spent a significant amount of her life caring for others. But her journey goes far beyond traditional medicine. Boal is the founder of Positive Vibes Holistic Coaching, as well as an author, shamanic practitioner, and, amazingly, an honored Maasai warrior. In this interview, Boal shares her transformational adventure, her approach to holistic healing, and insights from her book, Safari for the Soul.
Boal’s journey has been marked by extraordinary spiritual manifestations that have guided her path, and she recalls a defining moment when she felt an overwhelming urge to travel the world.
“You can literally hear voices from the back seat of a car saying, ‘Oh, Jan, you could travel the world.'”
Surprised at first, she asked the universe for a sign, and soon after received a secret gift from Santa: a calendar titled “Passport to the World.” Boal took it as the validation she needed.
In “Safari of the Soul,” Boal recounts her travels and spiritual experiences with endangered animals. Her encounters include studying jaguars in Brazil, dolphins in the Mediterranean, and black rhinos in Kenya. Each chapter unfolds a spiritual exploration of these animals and their cultural significance.
“We also explain what the endangered animal represents spiritually and how the village impacts it.”
Boal’s journey was not without danger: one of the most terrifying experiences she describes was being attacked by a lioness in Kenya.
“I saw a lion jump out from behind a tree and attack my coworker, Cathy.”
This traumatic event left a lasting impact on her and caused her to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder upon her return home.
“I even hated the sound of my dog running and stomping his feet on the ground. It made me a bit angry.”
Through her holistic coaching practice, Boal helps people overcome fear and find courage.
“What I received from people was that my book taught them how to be courageous, how to live without fear.”
Her approach integrates mind, body, spirit, energy and environment to provide a holistic path to healing and empowerment.
Boal’s bravery during the encounter with the lion earned her a rare and prestigious honor: she was recognized by the Maasai community as an honored Maasai warrior.
“The chief can’t imagine a braver woman, and he wants to meet you.”
During a special ceremony, Maasai warriors danced around her and bestowed upon her a beautiful necklace made by the chief’s wife.
“They put on these beautiful necklaces that the chief’s wife had made, and then the other warriors danced around me.”
Boal continues to inspire others through speaking engagements and workshops, including an upcoming event titled “Live the Life You Want” at the Kiwanda Community Center and Tillamook Library in Pacific City.
“The talk is free and is called ‘Living the Life You Want.'”
These events are based on a five-step blueprint for living a fulfilling life that she has perfected over the past 20 years.
If you are interested in her book, Safari for the Soul, you can purchase it from Amazon or directly from her website, janboal.com, where she also has signed copies for sale.
“If you order through me, I’ll give you a signed copy and mail it to you.”
Boal’s Positive Vibes virtual meetup group continues to grow, meeting every Sunday to focus on gratitude and positive intentions.
“This will be held… We will still come together on Sundays, and this is all to express gratitude.”
She dreams of expanding the group nationally, if not globally.
“My dream is to take Positive Vibes Virtual Group globally, hopefully, but just in the US or Oregon would be good enough.”
Jean Boal’s journey is a testament to the power of courage, spirituality, and holistic healing. Her experiences and teachings offer valuable insights for overcoming fears and embracing life’s adventures.
