A long walkway connects Andaz Maui’s driveway to the front lobby. When I arrived at the lobby to check in, I was amazed by the breathtaking view. The lobby overlooked the pool and restaurant, and in the distance you could see the cool blue waters of Mokapu His Beach. But that’s just the beginning of what this resort covers.
Andaz Maui is located on 15 acres. The resort has 320 rooms spread across three different wings, including 35 suites and 30 luxury villas that are rented out by the property. After a 12 hour journey from New York City, walking into our ocean view room felt like a breath of fresh air. The room’s refreshing neutral color palette is a calming sight after a long journey, and the space features modern, luxurious features including a king-sized bed, full-sized bathroom, walk-in closet, and rain shower. It was well equipped. they. The room also had a balcony overlooking the beach and the resort’s adults-only pool, which was a great spot to watch the sunrise.

All four of the hotel’s restaurant-bar style dining options aim to use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible to eliminate imports. Ka’ana Kitchen is a must try for breakfast and dinner. For breakfast, pair classic buffet-style dishes such as waffles, pancakes and pastries with fresh fruit juices. My favorite was the refreshing juice mixed with passion fruit, orange, guava and pineapple juice. Kaana Kitchen also offers family-style dinners at Chef’s Table, evoking the comforts of home while entertaining guests with his carefully selected six-course meals.
For a snack while you swim in the pool or relax in a cabana, Lehua Lounge and Bumbee Beach Bar offer a variety of flavorful snacks. Try the fish tacos and pair them with Lehua Lounge’s ginger back mocktail. The hotel also features Morimoto Maui, a restaurant owned by celebrity chef Masaharu Morimoto. iron chef america. There, enjoy delicate and delicious sushi platters, poke bowls, and more.
If you’re into cocktails and food, Andaz also offers signature “Mix It Up” and “Poke All Around” classes for an additional charge of $59 and $65, respectively. “Mix It Up” allows attendees to learn how to create signature cocktails with Andaz mixologists. In my class, the mixologist taught me how to make the classic Mai Tai in two different ways. If you prefer non-alcoholic drinks, our mixologists can also create fresh cocktails and raspberry lemonade. The “Poke All Around” class deconstructs the widely popular food and participants learn about the fresh ingredients inside and how all the flavors come together.
Focus on mental and emotional health
For a traditional wellness experience, Andaz Maui’s ‘Āwili Spa and Salon offers luxurious treatments, facials, and amenities. The dimly lit spa is located near a tranquil adults-only pool and features 10 treatment rooms. There are separate locker rooms for women and men. Both feature saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and cold plunge pools.
For my treatment, I chose a 60-minute essential massage with a Hawaiian twist. Lomilomi (‘rubbing’) A technique that uses broad, deep strokes to stimulate blood circulation and provide energy. My masseuse asked me beforehand if I was sure to get to any areas of tension during the massage.
This hotel also met my needs for expression as a creator. During my visit, I had the opportunity to take a “ukulele” class and learn about the history of the instrument. Instructor Derrick Sebastian is a Grammy Award-winning ukulele player who takes pride in teaching visitors how to strum a few chords and create melodies.
Educational Opportunities at Andaz Maui
Andaz Maui is a thriving culture filled with not only hospitality, but educational opportunities and ways to give back. As a first-time visitor to the island, I was able to speak with Karikolehua Stoller, the hotel’s cultural training specialist, who provided me with valuable information about her homeland and culture.
In August 2023, wildfires ripped through Lahaina on Maui’s west side, leaving many residents without homes, loved ones, or jobs. Since then, the island has made great strides toward recovery through a variety of initiatives. Andaz His Maui offers guests the opportunity to learn about these efforts through in-room Welcome His messages and connections to relief efforts such as Maui His Strong.
Andaz Maui also specializes in sharing educational information in fun and engaging ways. The highlight of my trip was witnessing my first luau. The luau I attended was an event centered on feasting and storytelling, and it talked about the mental and physical burden of Polynesian emigration from Tahiti, as well as the American deities and the use of Kahoolawe Island as target practice. It also conveyed an important message about engagement.
