Taking great strides towards strengthening health infrastructure, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, Waterways and Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated Northeast India’s first Central Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy (CRIYN). laid the foundation stone. A 100-bed hospital also participated in the ceremony held at Kamtighat in Mancotta, Dibrugarh yesterday.
The collaboration between the Central Council for Yoga and Naturopathy Research and the Dibrugarh district administration has seen the active involvement of key senior officials, including Union Minister Rameshwar Teli, State Health Minister Keshav Mahanta, and State Minister for Industries, Commerce, Public Enterprises and Culture. There was great participation. As reported, Bimal Borah, AIDC President Prashanta Phukan, Ayush Ministry Deputy Director Satyajit Paul, MLAs and various other dignitaries were present.
The institute, which will occupy a vast area of 45 bighas of land, reportedly aims to revolutionize healthcare in the region at an expected cost of Rs 100 crore.
Mr. Sonowal said, “This institute is being built to bring about a scientifically valid and useful synergy between traditional knowledge of yoga and naturopathy and modern technological tools. It will establish a benchmark standard in medical, yoga and naturopathy research.”
According to AYUSH officials, CRIYN will provide inpatient, outpatient and day care services. Services offered by the center include naturopathic diet and nutrition, yoga therapy, massage and manual therapy, acupressure, acupuncture, chromotherapy, magnetic therapy, physical therapy, and hydrotherapy.
The ambitious project is scheduled to be completed by 2026 and envisions a center of excellence for yoga and naturopathy, as well as a 100-bed, state-of-the-art hospital that will serve the region’s diverse medical needs.
