OTTUMWA – Ottumwa High School students will hold their fourth annual Mental Wellness Expo on Saturday, April 27th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Ottumwa High School Cafeteria. This event aims to raise awareness about mental health and provide resources to improve the mental health of our community.
The expo is led by a group of dedicated high school students from Stomp Out Stigma, who worked tirelessly to make the event a reality, and will feature community resource booths offering valuable mental health information and services. The Mental Wellness Expo will also feature a variety of activities for kids, including games, crafts, and succulent workshops. We are excited to announce a unique opportunity for everyone to leave a lasting mark on our community: the creation of a collaborative mural. Participants can unleash their creativity and be a part of something truly special. The community mural project, along with keynote speakers, was made possible thanks to the generous support of Be the Light.
Last year alone, the expo attracted more than 300 attendees to show their support for the cause. Organizers received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the community, highlighting the importance of the event in promoting mental health.
“This is a great event and we are proud of our students for their hard work and dedication to this cause,” Superintendent Mike McGrory said. “It’s important to continue to raise awareness about mental health and provide resources to those who need it. The Mental Wellness Expo is a great example of how we can come together as a community to support each other.”
