A hypnotherapist from Gloucester, known for his work on past life regression, was called in to help with an episode of Help! My house is haunted. He was tasked with working with actress Tina Malone, perhaps best known for her role as Mimi Maguire in the award-winning comedy series Shameless.
Paul Goddard, 42, from St Bridge, Gloucester, is a hypnotherapist and master practitioner in neurolinguistic programming (NLP). Paul has appeared in previous episodes of his Discovery Plus show and was brought back to take part in the new series, which began airing this year.
He realized that he knew that Tina had another worldly attachment that had been connected to her since childhood. He was invited to watch Tina begin the divination process with an attachment believed to be a man named William James Mackenzie, who was born in 1794 and died in 1851.

This episode was filmed in August 2023 at Tina’s home in Frodsham, Cheshire. Tina’s house was built as a farmhouse in the 18th century.
Paul said: “I was called by the ‘Help! My house is haunted’ team. I am known as a hypnotherapist with experience in age regression. First, I was asked to witness a divination. You are invited.” [seeing into the future] Tina Malone and Jayne Harris’ session during filming.
“I was watching in real time on the nerve center with Bari Guy and Ian Roman. The purpose of watching this divination session was to understand Tina’s love for William James Mackenzie, which she has had since she was seven years old. It was about knowing the depth.
“After the scrying session, I was asked to return Tina to the state she was in when she first met ‘James’, which is the word she used to refer to William. During the scrying session, Tina clearly I looked at his face and he was clearly upset.”
Paul said Tina is a very friendly woman with an interest in the paranormal. She asked the team to help her with an issue she was having with her attachment.
“Tina is a down-to-earth, friendly woman with strong Roman Catholic beliefs and an interest in the paranormal. Tina was very honest in expressing her story and experiences.
“She was very kind and welcoming to everyone on the team. Tina was happy to let them do what she thought was best to help them.
“I hypnotized Tina in her lounge while Bari, Jayne and Ian observed and commented on her reactions. They were watching in real time in her nerve center.
“After I finished my hypnosis with Tina and said goodbye, something incredible happened during the investigation that was filmed that night. It had such paranormal significance that it was released on Discovery Plus. Immediately after it was posted, the paranormal community was buzzing with excitement.”

Paul says he started using hypnotherapy to help people. He believes the team working on the show genuinely cares about the people they work with on the show, as much as they are passionate about the paranormal.
He said: “I became interested in NLP and hypnotherapy to help people and felt I could help too when I was asked to do so on the show. I have experience working through hypnosis with people who feel “attachment through entities.”
“I’ve worked with people who may be attached to spirits. A standout moment I witnessed was when Tina, through hypnosis, told William she thought he hated her. -This is when James Mackenzie discovers that he actually needs help.
“This was an amazing discovery for Tina, as she had lived by this belief all her life.Besides that, the sheer emotion that Tina expressed during the divination session was heart-wrenching.
