chennai is Diabetes capital of India. As the number of people with diabetes increases each year, this condition is starting to affect children as well.
Diabetes is a metabolic disorder of the endocrine system. This terrible disease is occurring all over the world and poses a serious threat to humanity.
Although there are many chemical drugs available for the management and treatment of diabetic patients, complete recovery from diabetes has not been reported to date. In addition to side effects, drug treatments are not always satisfactory in maintaining euglycemia and avoiding late diabetic complications. So, on this World Diabetes Day, Chennai Times brings you some alternative treatments for this disease…
natural therapy
“Several medicinal plants have been studied for their beneficial effects on different types of diabetes,” says Dr. Rajat K., who is currently researching different ways to treat the disease. Bitter melon juice and fenugreek seeds have been familiar to us since ancient times. He added: “According to ancient texts, more than 800 plants have been reported to have anti-diabetic properties.”
While indigenous diets may not be as helpful in lowering blood sugar levels as insulin or other hypoglycemic agents, they also have some other effects that may help manage the disease and its complications. .
diet supplements
Vitamins and minerals are micronutrients that our bodies require in small amounts to perform certain functions. According to Dr. Rajat, “They most commonly function as essential coenzymes and cofactors in metabolic reactions and help support basic cellular responses.” Micronutrients play a role in type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It is being studied as a potential preventive and therapeutic agent for both, and common complications of diabetes. ” Minerals such as chromium, vanadium, magnesium, nicotinamide, and vitamin E are essential for optimal health, and low levels of these minerals and vitamins increase the incidence of diabetes. Talking to a professional about which minerals and vitamins to take and in what amounts can help people with diabetes.
hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is the use of both hot and cold water to treat illnesses and injuries. Hydrotherapy helps remove toxins from your body and relax your muscles. It also relaxes the body both mentally and physically. Hot tub therapy can increase blood flow to skeletal muscles and is recommended for people with type 2 diabetes who are unable to exercise.
According to hydrotherapy therapist Dr. Kanika Selva, “It has been proven through various studies and experiments that in hot water, a patient’s body weight, average plasma glucose concentration, and average glycosylated hemoglobin decrease.” She says, “Hot tub therapy should be further evaluated as a treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes. This benefit may result from increased blood flow to skeletal muscle.”
yoga
Yoga is an old traditional psychological, physical, and spiritual exercise therapy from India that has been studied for decades for its role in the management of several chronic diseases such as hypertension, asthma, obesity, and mental illness. Ta.
Additionally, yoga has been studied to control both symptoms and complications associated with type 2 diabetes. Yoga instructor Shanti M says: “These findings suggest a statistically significant role for yoga in diabetes. Yoga practice showed significant improvement in diabetic patients with pre-existing comorbidities.”
Shanti further adds, “The practice of yoga also plays a role in diabetes prevention. Yoga helps regulate body functions and mental processes and improves well-being. Benefits of yoga for diabetes management There are several hypotheses as to the biological mechanisms linking it. Some point to the role of stress and relaxation, while others suggest that the non-invasive nature of yoga may be linked to the effects of diabetes on patients already taking their diabetes medication. This suggests that it provides excellent support and few side effects for patients suffering from cancer.”
acupuncture
Acupuncture is a common approach to diabetes treatment in China. It is best known in the United States as an alternative treatment for chronic pain. However, for the past few decades, it has been used to treat diabetes and related complications. Acupuncture may not only be effective in treating diabetes, but also in preventing and managing diabetes complications. However, although acupuncture has shown some efficacy in the treatment of diabetes, its mechanism of action is still unclear.
