Vatican News reported that the 14 meditations that accompany the Stations of the Cross are usually written by different individuals. This year, the meditation will instead be written by the Pope himself.
The theme of the review is “Prayer with Jesus on the Way of the Cross.” According to Vatican News and the Holy See’s Press Office, walking the Stations of the Cross is an “act of meditation and spirituality” that focuses on the Year of Jesus and Prayer, which Pope Francis has designated 2024.
“The focus will be on Christ, who walked the way of the cross and allowed others to walk with him,” Vatican News said.
