Food Integrity We spoke to certified herbalist Mari Marquez about DIY herbal remedies for creating wellness. Marquez, owner of The Timekeeper in Florissant, Colorado, showed practical ways to make teas, steams, and more using herbs you already have at home. She shared information about other natural ingredients that strengthen the immune system to maintain health, shorten the duration of illness, and recover.
She talked about some of her favorite herbs and their medicinal properties, and we talked about my favorite herbs and how they have helped me. She warned us about using certain essential oils on children and animals, which was really good to know.
Marquez shared some tips that moms will love, including herbal popsicles. She frankly said, “My two-year-old was my toughest customer.” She even showed us how to make an elderberry and honey syrup that her kids would love, and how to make your own ‘ginger chews’ without any sugar. She also gave me recipes for making drinks to combat dehydration and increase electrolytes.
In the 30-minute interview below, I’m sure you’ll find something you can use to improve your overall health without having to read a ton of side effects on package inserts.
