Jindal Naturopathy Institute sees 38% increase in patients post-COVID, adopting yoga and naturopathy to manage chronic diseases

Issued on July 1, 2024

Bengaluru – As the world prepares to celebrate World Yoga Day on June 21, Jindal Institute for NatureCure has reported a significant 38% increase in patients adopting yoga as a lifestyle to manage chronic diseases. The survey compared the post-lockdown years of 2021-22 and 2023-24. The increase highlights the growing awareness of the therapeutic benefits of yoga in addressing common lifestyle diseases such as obesity, diabetes and hypertension.

The institute has observed a significant rise in lifestyle-related diseases since the COVID-19 pandemic. For instance, the number of diabetes patients has increased by 68%. Similarly, the number of hypertension patients has also shown a staggering increase of 55%, highlighting the increasing reliance on yoga and natural therapies in managing these diseases.

Studies by leading medical journals such as The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology have highlighted the alarming prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases in India. Diabetes affects more than a tenth of the population, 35% experience high blood pressure and 28% high cholesterol levels, highlighting the need for effective disease management strategies.

Although the scale of these challenges is daunting, there is also optimism. Many non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are largely preventable. Numerous credible scientific studies have established that lifestyle modifications, including integrating practices such as naturopathy and yoga, can make a significant contribution to global disease prevention. This preventative approach not only delivers enormous health and well-being benefits to individuals and societies, but also has a positive impact on economies.

Dr Rajeev Rajesh, Chief Yoga Officer, Jindal NatureCure Institute, emphasised, “Yoga and naturopathy are integral to our holistic healthcare approach at the institute. The significant increase in patients adopting these practices is a testament to their ability to enhance physical health and mental resilience. Here at Jindal NatureCure Institute, we blend traditional yoga and naturopathic practices to help individuals embark on the path to improved health.”

Jindal NatureCure Institute offers drug-free, disease-specific treatment that combines interrelated holistic therapies such as naturopathy, yoga, diet, acupuncture and physiotherapy. Naturopathic doctors prescribe treatment after a thorough evaluation of the patient’s condition, including planned diet, various therapies, exercise and lifestyle modification guidelines. This comprehensive approach aims for complete cure and teaches patients how to prevent recurrence and maintain good health throughout their life. These programs are customized to target specific health issues, relieve symptoms, actively avoid lifestyle diseases through lifestyle adjustments and stress management techniques, and promote overall wellness.

Dr Rajeev emphasised, “Yoga and naturopathic practices strengthen the body, calm the mind and enrich the overall quality of life. Regular practice of yoga and naturopathic treatments not only promote cardiovascular health, reduce stress and improve metabolic function but also strengthen the immune response. These practices encourage an active lifestyle and promote healthy eating habits by increasing self-awareness. Yoga and naturopathic practices play a key role in reducing risk factors associated with lifestyle diseases like cardiovascular diseases, obesity, diabetes, mental disorders and cognitive decline by increasing muscle strength, balance and flexibility, easing problems like back pain and arthritis and supporting heart health and stress management.”

In today’s fast-paced, digitally-driven world, yoga and naturopathy serve as timeless practices that foster resilience and inner peace amid the challenges of modern life. Demand for such holistic health approaches has skyrocketed since the COVID-19 pandemic as individuals seek effective ways to enhance their health and well-being. Jindal NatureCure Institute remains dedicated to marrying ancient wisdom with modern healthcare to meet the changing needs of individuals seeking holistic health solutions.
